The Miraculous Medal also known as the Medal of Our Lady of Grace.
The medal was created following the Marian apparitions on Rue du Bac in 1830, in the Notre-Dame-De-la-Médaille-Miraculouse chapel in Paris.
According to Catholic tradition, this medal was struck at the express request of the Mother of God as a testimony of love, a pledge of protection and a source of grace.
On the other side of the coin:
In the center, the letter "M" for Mary, the twelve stars symbolize the twelve tribes of Israel and the twelve apostles. The heart crowned with a thorn is that of Jesus (Sacred Heart). The heart pierced by a sword is the immaculate heart of Mary. The bar and the cross symbolize the test.
All persons wearing this medal receive the protection of the Mother of God.
